Ingredients for Stuffed Mussels Recipe

  • 50 mussels

  • 2 cups rice

  • 2 and a half glasses of water

  • 2 onions

  • 3/4 tea glass of olive oil (one half + one quarter)

  • 1 teaspoon allspice

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 1 pinch of dried mint

  • 1 lemon

  • 2 tablespoons of pine nuts

  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons currants (optional)

  • Half bunch of dill (as desired)

  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste (optional)

How to Make Stuffed Mussels Recipe?

  1. Wash the mussels in plenty of water. Clean the stains on them with a wire brush or steel wool and wash them again.

  2. Without separating the shells from each other, use a knife to open them enough to insert the tip.

  3. Place it in a large pot and add 1 glass of water and heat it on the stove. When the inside is too hot to cook, the mussels are opened.

  4. There is a small piece of algae called a beard inside and outside the mussel. Tear it off with your hands and clean it without damaging the meat. Wash the mussels in plenty of water and drain to remove excess sand. Our mussels are ready to be stuffed.

  5. Wash the sorted rice until clear water comes out. Soak the currants in warm water to clean them.

  6. For the stuffed pilaf, roast the peanuts in oil until they get a light color. You can also add a small amount of tomato paste if desired.

  7. Cut the peeled onions into small pieces and add them. Roast over medium heat until the onion changes color. Add rice and all the ingredients and fry a little more over low heat.

  8. After roasting, add 2 cups of hot water. Close the lid and leave it on low heat to absorb the water. Cook until it remains slightly firm.

  9. After adding finely chopped dill as desired, set the rice aside and let it rest.

  10. Fill the shelled mussels with a teaspoon of cooled rice and close tightly.

  11. Arrange the stuffed mussels in a pot with the wide parts facing down.

  12. Pour olive oil and hot water over them. Cover them with a porcelain plate to weigh them down.

  13. You can serve the stuffed mussels, cooked over low heat for 25-30 minutes, cold with freshly squeezed lemon juice.
