What is a Seahorse? Where it lives?

Seahorse is a sea creature with a head similar to a horse. The seahorse's body is spiny and its tail resembles a snake. It is the only known species in the world where men are pregnant. There are different types with lengths ranging from 16 mm to 35 cm.

Where Do Seahorses Live?

Seahorses live in temperate and tropical waters. Some species of seahorses have a transparent body and are very difficult to see in the water. It has gills and fins in the head area.

The seahorse's head is perpendicular to its body, unlike any other creature. He can move his head up and down but cannot turn it left and right. The seahorse's eyes can move in different directions independently of each other. In this way, he can easily observe his surroundings without turning his head. In the examinations, it was determined that the seahorse has a hard shell that you cannot break with your hands.

The seahorse is a monogamous creature that lives in flocks. The pregnancy period varies between 2 and 3 weeks depending on the type of seahorse and water conditions. The female seahorse lays her eggs in the male seahorse's pouch and the eggs are fertilized there. Seahorse babies that hatch from eggs live independently of their parents. The father seahorse can sometimes eat the babies when he is hungry.

Nowadays, seahorse species can be easily caught and sold in pet shops. Many aquarium enthusiasts keep seahorses in their aquariums, and some even keep only seahorses in the aquarium.

Seahorse is in danger of extinction in some regions because it is used for alternative medicine in Far Eastern countries.
